Why back up away from your host
Most hosting includes backups, and ours does too. But those backups live with the same provider as your site. If an account is compromised, a migration goes wrong, or you need a copy from months ago, an independent backup is the one you'll be glad you had. Website backup stores copies of your site and database off-site, on a schedule you don't have to remember.
How it works
- Connect your site. Enter your site's SFTP or FTP details and database details. No plugins, and no cron jobs to set up.
- The first backup runs. Your files and database are copied to cloud storage.
- Daily monitoring starts. Every day, your site is checked for changes and only what changed is saved, building a new version of your backup.
- You get alerts. When something changes, you get an email listing what was added, modified, or deleted, with a timestamp. Unexpected changes are often the first sign of a hack.
Restore any version
Roll your website files or database back to any earlier backup version from your dashboard. You can also download a zip of your backup at any time to keep your own offline copy.
Keep backups as long as you need
Backups are kept for 90 days by default, and you can choose to keep them longer, even permanently.

What is a website backup service?
A website backup service makes regular copies of your website files and database and stores them away from your hosting account, so you can restore your site after a hack, a bad update, or accidental deletion.
How often are backups taken?
Every day, automatically. On Deluxe and higher plans you can also take a manual backup whenever you want, for example before updating plugins.
Can I restore just the database, or just the files?
Yes. You can restore your website files or your database to any earlier version, separately.
Can I back up more than one website?
Yes. Basic covers up to 5 sites per account and Pro+ up to 100. Storage is shared across the sites on your plan.
Can I upgrade my backup plan later?
Not at the moment. Plans can't be switched after purchase, so choose the storage and number of sites you expect to need.
